My story…

I use the most up-to-date, evidence-informed strategies to help people live more fulfilling, rewarding and thriving lives.

My life’s work and passion…

Has revolved around understanding how our hearts and minds experience the world.

I’ve always been fascinated by how we make sense of ourselves and our environments, how the brain and nervous system work, and what makes us, us.

And so, early on, I immersed myself in this area of study so that I could use my knowledge and skills to help others make meaningful, lasting change.

My own journey of self-discovery and healing

With this innate curiosity to discover who I am - in a spiritual and philosophical sense - I embarked on a 25-year journey of self-discovery. Having experienced trauma in my past, it was also a journey of healing and finding ease within myself.

For many years, it took me around the world to places like India, Sri Lanka, Nepal and the USA where I explored all sorts of therapies and paths of study including meditation, yoga, western psychology and philosophy.

There was one observation I kept coming back to…

This experience opened my eyes in so many ways, but something that struck me was how happy and free many of my meditation teachers were. In fact, they were the happiest and most at ease people I’d ever met.

Yet they had nothing – literally, some clothes and a few small items.

It was then that I realised, it’s not about what you have that makes a difference to your life, but something inside yourself.

Of course, there are external factors that play a part - we need a certain level of material wealth to survive - but it’s your psychological and emotional wellbeing that make the ultimate difference.

A deep compassion

This journey nurtured a deep sense of empathy in myself, as I saw how others experience the world, through their eyes.

And I learnt that just because we see things one way, doesn’t make it so.

From this experience I became even more open-minded, more non-judgemental, more self-compassionate and more pulled to use my knowledge to help others in their journey of self-discovery and healing.

The river as a teacher

At the same time this journey was unfolding, I was also finding rhythm and balance in my own life through my second passion: a love of kayaking and exploring rivers.

I find it to be an experience like no other. I love the total absorption of it. And the way it’s taught me to be present, to take in the environment and feel its nourishment.

The river is also a metaphor for life. There’s a sense of calm and flow that comes with kayaking - a state that’s possible internally, too.

Just like real life, there will be turbulence. But we can learn to be present with those moments. Move through them, responding with control, knowing it will pass.

Seeing transformation in people

This is what drives me - whether that’s cultivating healthier relationships with themselves and others, finding a deeper meaning and purpose in their lives, or helping them through some of their darkest times.

Being part of someone’s journey to healing is an honor that I feel privileged to be part of.

I’m on a continual journey of growth myself, always looking to learn and evolve.  And it’s a joy to use this knowledge to help others learn healthier and more fulfilling ways of being, too.
