MORE THAN JUST TALKING

Just talking is not always enough to make change. Simply talking about problems can result in going round in circles, or just scratching the surface of important issues. Research now tells us talking is not enough to change. We need to learn how to notice directly what is happening in not only our minds but our body as well.

We know many unconscious traumas and emotions are held in the body. By bringing our attention to the present experience, this information can be seen, understood, and transformed. This then enables new ways of being to be found. Essentially, the capacity to directly observe our experience, rather than simply talking or engaging in mental reflection, can be a potent and transformative experience.

More than focusing SOLElY on the past and problems

It’s important to look at how your past maybe contributing to your problems. Yet we also need to focus on what is important to you now. This includes exploring what is seeking to emerge in your life and how to live more closely aligned to these values. For some people this might be discovering what brings them meaning and purpose, for others this could be exploring what work aligns to your values. I help you discover what’s important and meaningful, and how to move in that direction with all your heart.

It’s the fit that’s most important

You are at the heart of what I do. I work in a relational way which holds our relationship at the centre of what we do together. This is essential as research shows the relationship that we form is the biggest indicator of success in therapy.  I offer a warm, collaborative and accepting space where all of you is welcome. You will be treated with kindness and respect.

What is Psychosynthesis counselling and psychotherapy

Psychosynthesis is a holistic approach and has often been called the psychology of the self. Imagine you the conductor of the orchestra directing all the different instruments of your life so that they play in harmony. This is Psychosynthesis; learning the art of how to conduct your life in harmony. At the heart of this approach is a belief that we are all moving towards a greater place of harmony and fulfillment in our lives, and sometimes we need a hand to learn how to play in tune. Psychosynthesis is a flexible approach that encompasses many other modalities when appropriate.

Some of the other modalities I use:

·         Acceptance Commitment Therapy

·         Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

·         Mindfulness

·         Hakomi

·         Person-centered Approach

·         Attachment Theory

COUPLES WORK

I work with challenges in your relationship on a one to one basis. This can support you to then engage in couples counselling, if you choose. I can refer you to appropriate couples therapist.
